“I'd rather take coffee than compliments just now.”

― Louisa May Alcott

PLACE: Manila, PHILIPPINES

Local Edition Coffee and Tea is located at 116 Perea Street, Legaspi Village. Local Edition lives up to their name as they are not just like any coffee and tea shop. Jackie Arceo- the owner of Local Edition speaks to us about making the space different and special, she says that they abide by their brand values which is mostly paying close attention to 'being local, the community, and creative inspiration'.

Community – Local Edition is noted as the neighbourhood café, with many cafe regulars from the area returning on a daily basis, those whom have built a strong rapport with the baristas and staff. Many of these patrons live close by within the Village so there is a strong sense of communion shared with their local stores. Around the area, Local Edition is known for being the cafe that remembers their regulars and their coffee orders, as Jackie mentions that it's important that they know their customers on a personal and amiable level.

Local – Unlike other coffee shops, Local Edition is 100% local. Their coffee is sourced within the Philippines from provinces such as Ifugao, Benguet, and Cavite. As much as possible they try to use local ingredients within their food and beverage. They find it important to support local traders, artisans and artists.

Creative Inspiration – Local Edition takes pride in creating a café space that sparks creativity in their customers, many of their patrons work in production and use the cafe to work and write. When creating Local Edition, it was important for them to create a space that has a creative mentality, a space that fosters and harnesses creativity.
