BASIL 

The soulful partner of pesto and tomatoes. Basil makes just about every dish sing. Basil & Tomato, two of the bestest friends anyone could ever ask for. 

Tate: Sweet, pepper-like, minty with a clove/anise like scent.

Delicious with: Italian dishes, toasted sandwiches, salads and home-made pizza. 


DILL

Wispy and feathery, also known as the cute little baby character from The Rugrats. 

Taste: Sweet, anise-like and grassy. 

Delicious with: Boring eggs, smoked fish, salmon, potatoes and a light topping for mayonnaise.

CHIVES

The herb that is easily mistaken as grass lawn.

Taste: Onion-y

Delicious with: Egg dishes, creamy sauces, potato salad and risotto. 


CORIANDER (CILANTRO)

The doppleganger of parsley. Essential for South-East Asian, Latin American and Middle Eastern cooking.

Taste: Bold, citrus-y, anise/ sage flavour.

Delicious with: Green papaya salad, guacamole, salsa.


CHERVIL

A fine frenchy. 

Taste: Fennel-like, subtle.

Delicious with: Salad, fish, poultry, potato soup and chervil pesto.


KAFFIR LIME LEAVES

Double leaf deliciousness.

Taste: Citrusy and lemony.

Delicious with: Coconut curries, tom-yum soups and asian soups. 


LEMONGRASS

The taller brother in the citrus family.

Taste: Lemony, zesty and zingy.

Delicious with: Thai dishes, curries and asian soups.


MARJORAM

The milder and sweeter cousin of Oregano.

Taste: Lemony, grassy and sweet.

Delicious with: Meats, poultry, stuffing, omelettes, herb scones and cream cheese.


MINT

The tummy's best friend and Mojitos compadre.

Taste: Menthol like, refreshing, cooling and lightly sweet. 

Delicious with: Mojitos, tea, fruit salad and beautiful as a simple garnish. 


OREGANO

Origanum vulgare- 'joy of the mountains'.

Taste: Very Mediterranean, lemon like, minty and peppery. 

Delicious with: Pizza, pasta, dressing, rubs, eggplant or zucchini dishes.


PARSLEY

The trust power horse herb. 

Taste: Strong pungency, grassy and slightly peppery.

Delicious with: Potato salad, tabouli, fish and meats.

ROSEMARY

The deliciously fragrant evergreen herb, half leaf half branch.

Taste: Pine-like, slightly tangy.

Delicious with: Baked vegetables, potatoes, breads, oils and poultry.


ROQUETTE

Fiery, wild and free.

Taste: Mustard like and peppery.

Delicious with: Salads, pizza, quiche and linguine.


SAGE

Our soft and fuzzy friends.

Taste: Pungent, slightly peppery, notes of balsamic.

Delicious with: Rich and creamy dishes, stuffings and great deep fried as a garnish.


TARRAGON

As the French say - 'delicieux'.

Taste: Earthy, liquorice, minty.

Delicious with: French dishes, bernaise, chicken, fish and eggs.


THYME

Party 'thyme'. Better not lose track of the 'thyme'.

Taste: Lightly peppery, minty and lemony.

Delicious with: Risotto, pumpkin, dips, stews and rice.
