Nestled within the inner city suburbs of Sydney is the home of fresh and seasonally grown New South Wales, Australian produce. Eveleigh markets welcomes its visitors, new and old at the crack of dawn every Saturday morning at 8 under the roof of a heritage listed blacksmiths workshop. The structure itself a phenomenal piece, a large mass rich with past and story, and beautiful large iron structures, endless concrete space and bare roughened brick walls. It's location - Carriageworks

Carriageworks has experienced as much growth and regard as has the markets if not more with its historical complexities and well considered multipurpose space. Formerly known as the Eveleigh Rail Yards, built in the 1800s, within a major rail network, where thousands worked throughout the 19th century industrial period.

Now, considered to be the place to showcase what local growers have to offer. The markets provide a wide range of farm fresh produce from the source with plenty of varietal goodness for every food enthusiasts dream. The growers and regular stallholders provide an array of fresh flowers, seasonal vegetables and fruits, artisan breads, meats, poultry, wine, oils and more.

Amongst all the stalls is Chinese-Australian Chef and Restaurateur Kylie Kwong who shares her love and talents in fusion Asian Chinese cooking. It is an offset project to her well-regarded restaurant in Surry Hills, Billy Kwong where she infuses her commitment to using organic and biodynamic foods within her cooking.

It has become a ritualistic destination for locals and there is a strong sense of gathering, independence and community every Saturday with the friendly faces of the many regular stallholders. On the first Sunday of every month, independent designers and artisans come together to show their creatively infused unique creations and talents.

Across the way, you can pop over to Carriageworks a heritage space that holds contemporary multi-arts functions and exhibitions. Currently they are showing Christian Boltanski's collection of works 'Chance' exhibiting his highly personalised body of exploring themes regarding birth, death and memory loss, in essence human existence and life is an effect of - chance.
